Talking To Myself
Last year, I wrote in my #NotNaNoWriMo diary, "so many people in [E.H.Shepard's] Punch drawings". The E.H.Shepard exhibition at the Medici Gallery displayed about 200 of the artists drawings of people for Punch and his children's books. I was particularly struck by 'The Conversation' - an elegant woman props herself up by her elbow on a day bed and smiles at a young child peering up at her from her alphabet book. It's a tender relationship and I kept returning to the picture. I scribbled in my diary as I left, "Note to self: draw more people."
This is one of a about a dozen I drew yesterday. There is not one person in my picture book in progress but there is a dynamic duo!

Sweet Dreams
This year I decided to draw the holiday card, inspired by my latest trip to London Zoo - (the reindeer landed at the end of November).
I'm not often moved to create my own cards. The last one I drew was based on my picture book HIC! with Lucy and Cow standing on a Christmas Pudding moon.
I've had an inspiring 8 months observational drawing and planning my next pixture book. So by the end of November, I was ready to think about the seasons' greetings.
