Letter S - Acrylic on MDF

Last year, Nikki Gamble told me of her plans to open a new story centre in Chelmsford, Essex and asked me if I'd like to illustrate a letter for her Alphabet Wall. I chose letter S - for Story and Sue. I added - Sleep, Stars and Lucy and Cow from my first picture book HIC!(Published by Bodley Head).

I'm proud to be amongst some of my heroes of Children's Book Illustration: Tony Ross, Emily Gravett, Mini Grey, Vivian Schwartz, Axel Scheffler, Catherine Hyde, Anthony Browne  - oh, I'm not going to list all 25. Go and see for yourself...if your heroes are not on the alphabet wall, it's because there aren't enough letters but the shelves are full of their books in the double-fronted Story Centre. Just Imagine how much time you could spend there! Nikki Gamble has great plans for the future of children's books and the opening of Just Imagine was a Monster of a beginning.
